I''m giving it 3 stars. It is a quality built product. But while this spring system appears to be very well built it is NOT compatible with the generation 3 Toyota Tacoma, as helwig states, without relocation of the brake lines and modification of the spring. See pictures to understand problem. The u bolt would chafe on the brake lines of installed according to the instructions. While this is solvable by simply shifting the helper spring back a bit, on the new Tacoma 4 leaf spring design there are 2 retaining cleats on the spring to align the leaves. In order for this helper spring to be installed the first cleat would have to be cut away to make room with the helper spring to lay on the top leaf, which would void the warranty and potentially make the spring unsafe. Unless I''m missing something there is no way to install this helper spring set on the new 4 leaf Tacoma spring. So I''m sending it back. As always Amazon is wonderful. Start a return. Print a label. Drop it off at UPS. Too bad. This would have been a simple solution to the challenge of the light springs used in tacomas.

    2003 Toyota 2.7 prerunner with 3” lift.
Excellent results, Spring kit really helped with axle wrap. Highly recommend! Here''s my take,

    Pros
    Easy install, one 11/16 wrench.
Ride is better, got rid of the “thud” at stops and start.
Extra benefit for towing and hauling.
    Very ridged and high quality.

    Cons

It’s a known fact and bit frustrating when installing springs on certain models. On my model you can see in my pics, the rear U-bolt lands right over the tailpipe. I’ve read on some Toyota forums hellwig makes angled U- bolts for certain applications. For $65 you’d think they could throw a couple in for mounting options. I was able to make it work by cutting a 1/2” off one side of you bolt above tailpipe. So far I’ve had no problems.
Spring kit is worth it, but minus 1 star for no angled U-bolts. Install took 1 hour. Check pics, leaf springs are not sagging. I also torqued rear U-bolt down to the calm on rear leaf, seems to be the sweet spot.

I ordered these for my 1998 Toyota T100. The instructions state clearly that they should not be used on vehicles with load sensing rear brake proportioning valves, which many Toyotas of this era have. It''s something I didn''t think about and was glad to see on the instructions, although I wish they would indicate that incompatibility in advertising. As it is, I''m having to pay for return shipping.

If you don''t know, the load sensing proportioning valve sends more hydraulic braking pressure to the rear brakes under load. The amount of hydraulic pressure to the rear is based on the suspension sag of the vehicle. As such, if you use a secondary device to decrease suspension sag you will not have adequate braking power when you need it. You could be left with a heavy load on the rear and front biased brakes. This could lead to a dangerous driving situation.

I really can''t rate these at all, but they do appear to be a quality product, easy to install, and very economical compared to alternatives. I applaud Hellwig for giving me the tip in the instructions to not use these on my truck, but since all T100''s are likely to have the same proportioning valve, they really shouldn''t be listed as a fit for these trucks.

Installation was easy, took about an hour from start to finish. You will need to lift the rear of the truck to take the load off of both leaf springs, follow the manufacturers instructions. Me personally, I jacked up my truck with a hydraulic floor jack, a block of wood and jacked it up at the hitch. Use caution, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ARE JACKING YOUR TRUCK UP WRONG OR UNSAFELY, CONSULT A QUALIFIED MECHANIC IF YOU ARE NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED OR AN AIR HEAD. I had to cut off the small plastic pegs sticking out of the top of the leaf spring for the helper springs to seat properly, no big deal. The springs DO make a difference when towing my pop up camper or 16ft aluminum Jon boat. I have more control in curves, less bounce and don''t sag anymore. I am happy with this purchase. Again, follow the provided instructions in the kit and you will be solid!

I installed these by myself. I blocked the front wheels and then jacked up the rear of the vehicle. I put jack stands under the spring mounts to keep it safe.
I installed both springs with the U-Bolts and nuts supplied. You have to be careful not to put the helper springs close to any brake lines or anything else before tightening the nuts. I used an air impact wrench. I had to cut the bottoms off the U-Bolts on the side where the exhaust tailpipe was mounted because I didn''t want the bolts to rub a hole in the tailpipe. I used a sawzall with a coarse metal blade.

The helper springs helped me a lot. Before I would sit on the tailgate and the rear of the truck would drop down about 5 inches. Now it drops maybe two inches. People no longer flash their headlights at me thinking I have my high beams on because of the sag when I had a light load in the bed. Measurements taken before and after show the helper springs raised the back of the the pickup just under an inch.
The ride is a little rougher but not by much. I believe I made the right decision.

I was able to correct the lean by torquing the u bolts on driver side helper spring more than the passenger side. I put about 1500 miles on them and it’s still sitting level and riding form again.

It lifted the load back up to level and did not change the ride. I measure about an inch of lift at the springs. I am very happy with this product. Prime shipping makes it a great deal. P.S. I used the Tacoma''s u-bolt behind axle to attach forward end of spring and included u-bolt at rear end. This allowed me to avoid OEM alignment bracket on OEM springs. Also I tightened both ends to max.

Installed these on my 1997 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0l V6. I occasionally haul loads of landscape products and these spring helpers made the truck handle better with those loads and I actually like the ride unloaded as well. A few minor points, the instructions are a little generic, could have been more complete. (For example, the torque info could have been specific for the item I actually bought instead of a table that makes me have to figure out bolt size. And it would have been nice to know that I might need a deep socket to actually use a torque wrench. All in all, a good addition for the money and easy to install.
